I was born and raised in the charming city of Greensboro, North Carolina. I grew up in a culturally diverse environment surrounded by artists and small local shops. Perhaps these early seeds planted the idea that I could turn my passion into a successful business.
I have been on this path my whole life, from dreams of being a fashion designer as a child, to attending arts schools in my teens, to selling knitted flowers at craft fairs in my early twenties, Everything has led me to this.
I’ve always loved the idea of creating wearable art and fashion. As a child I loved making jewelry with beads and string. Early on in life my passions for sculpting and painting emerged. These passions have stayed with me and grown throughout my life.
In 2013 my mother suggested I try selling the knitted flowers I had been making for her. People kept asking her where she got them. So I figured "why not?" That is when the bug bit me. I started an Etsy shop and experienced the joy of sharing my creations with the world. My shop, originally called "Oh Yarn Knit!", was born.
I started experimenting with the material that had always felt comfortable to me, clay. I made a few pairs of horns, just to see how things would go, and it turns out people liked them. So I taught myself to make silicone molds and use resin. Then I thought it would be cool if I could make them light up, and my creations have evolved from there.
By 2015 I wasn’t making very many knitted things, and the adorable shop name just didn't fit anymore. It took a long time, but I finally came up with a new shop name, LumiFae, and in 2016 I decided to start over with the new name and a full commitment towards making jewelry and festival accessories. I decided to make things that sparked joy in me that I could share with kindred spirits.
Creating something that can bring joy to others, and seeing people wearing my creations with a big smile on their face is pure happiness and makes this all worth it. Thank you, Lumibabies!
